Job Mission / Purpose

The Asset & Lean Operations Manager has a double responsibility, managing both Assets and driving LEAN and Six Sigma (LSS) program of Italian Operations organization.

This includes locally optimizing the use of new versus existing inventory and assets in the deployment of consignments, capital placements, demo and education sets for all franchises. As Asset manager, the role is leading regular performance reviews with the local business leaders in order to drive best possible return on investment and sustain optimal levels of inventory and cost. The role is responsible for adherence to European asset and inventory procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, to optimize the use of resources and to minimize scrap and obsolescence. In addition to the Asset Manager responsibility, the role is also responsible for LEAN and Six Sigma (LSS) program of the Italian Operations organization. The requires initiating and driving process improvement projects, supporting all functions in the Operations team locally on initiatives aimed at harmonizing and standardizing operations processes, in line with the European direction and with the strategy defined by the Operational Excellence function in EMEA. The role is also responsible to develop an internal basic LSS training program to spread and increase the LSS knowledge and culture within the Operations team.

The role has people responsibility.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

Lead and manage the local Asset management team and Lean resources, if applicable.

Specific Responsibilities For The Asset Manager Role

Planning
Ensure team participation in the franchise demand and supply reviews.
Providing input to the S&OP process to drive optimal use of new versus existing inventory to meet forecasted needs.
Providing input to the central Asset Manager for the development of algorithms for optimal deployment of consignments depending on customer need parameters.
Make available
Responsible for local kit and set building
Support the cross-regional sharing of kits
Deployment
Support sales in tender processes, sales and after sales customer discussions to drive customer requirements and decisions to avoid excess deployment of inventory and assets.
Responsible for driving the optimal content and size of any new investment in instrument and implant sets.
Responsible for the coordination of the local request and approval process
Coordinate the process of establishing consignment contracts.
Responsible for order management to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of approved investment requests.
Responsible for raising internal requisitions and POs and process physical transactions.
Responsible for the facilitation of the (local) allocation process in backorder situations including providing reports to sales to allow correct and quick allocation decisions and management of customer expectations.
Optimize Field Inventory and Assets
Responsible for monitoring consignment performance against expected sales/forecast.
Responsible for leading regular performance reviews and for providing reports to support sales in meeting their targets and to retrieve underperforming inventory and assets from the field.
Responsible for monitoring expiring product in the field to minimize scrap. Responsible for processing the return and dispositioning of expiring items and underperforming short and long-term consignments.

Other
Responsible for providing analysis and reports on local inventory levels and status, including days on hand.
Participate and support in the process of phasing in and out products.
Responsible for the maintenance of specific stock locations according to standard governance rules.
Be the to-go person for any local escalations on inventory and asset topics.
Work closely together with other departments to ensure consistency in processes and procedures across all Regions and Franchises for Asset and Inventory related topics.
Responsible for driving continuous improvement of the Asset and Inventory processes by participating in the development, sharing and adaptation of best practices.
Specific responsibilities for the Lean and Six Sigma Manager role:
Responsible for the LEAN and Six Sigma (LSS) Program implementation in the Italian Operations team, in line with the European and local strategy.
Responsible for a yellow belt equivalent LSS training program including development of material and training modules.
Develops material, coaches and supports individual green belt and black belt initiatives as applicable, in the Country.
Supports larger LSS projects and process improvement initiatives initiated by EMEA Operations teams, to facilitate the implementation locally.
As applicable leads a team of analysts and specialists to drive above LSS initiatives.
Subject matter expert for LEAN, Six Sigma, Process Management, Metrics and Reporting for the Operations function in Italy
Contributes to establish a culture of continuous improvements based on factual data, deep insight and analysis.
Is expected to be an advocate of process and tool proficiency in the Country.
Acts as a liaison with the LSS network to adopt and use best practices and common tools and templates in Italy.
Education

Essential

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

Desired

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Science, or a related field

Experience

+8 years’ experience working in supply chain, logistics, warehousing and/or customer operations

S&OP / Integrated Business Planning / Forecasting

Several years people management experience in larger projects or in line management roles

Project Management experience

Documented experience of managing an operation based on LSS principles

Documented success of driving large process improvement initiatives

Desirable

Working in medical device industry in Operations with knowledge of regulation, legacy process and systems

Warehouse Operations, Customer Service, Supply Chain knowledge
